When Not To Cut Your Hair, Wax Your Legs and Other Top Tips!
By Kathryn Cassidy
In times gone by a busy woman would check her diary before making a hair or beauty appointment. She’d be looking to ensure that she wasn’t double booking with a work meeting, childcare activity or other commitment. Nowadays it is far more likely she’ll be checking to make sure the Moon is correctly positioned. For yes, it’s true, astrology (the study of cycles) is finally going mainstream. Beauty Spas around the globe have cottoned on to the fact that the phase of the Moon, i.e., New, 1st Quarter, Full etc., can alter the efficiency of beauty treatments - from your hair tinting thru to the absorption rate of your skin. Consequently the hottest, hippest Spa’s are openly embracing the secret.
Lunar Spa’s, work with the astrological and Biblical premise that ‘There is time for everything under the heavens’ (Ecclesiastes). So fitness programmes, detox regimes and beauty treatments are being scheduled to synchronise with the 28 day lunar cycle. Here is a brief outline of the phases and a few of their correlations:
NEW MOON: This is a time of commencement. A time when the solar and lunar rays are perfectly aligned. Set your goals and intentions now. Start initial phases of your detox or other programme now. Not good for depilation. Not good or for surgery until Moon separates by approximately 2 days.
WAXING MOON: A time for strengthening and energising. Hair cuts now will grow more quickly as will nails. Heightened skin absorption. Do eye treatments now.
FULL MOON: A turning point. The first obvious results of what was started at the New Moon. A time to start serious elimination programmes. Not a good time for any surgery though.
WANING MOON: Hair cut now will grow more slowly. Colour your hair roots for slow regrowth. Pluck eyebrows.Bring an undesirable habit to an end. Exfoliation works well now.
If we look at the Moon cycle as analogous to seasons, the New Moon phase is allied to the end of winter and beginning of Spring, the Waxing phase to Spring, the Full Moon phase to high summer and the start of the harvest. The Waning phase is the autumn and winter.
Of course if your spa or beautician is really serious about using ‘Lunar Planning’ you will have to ask them to take into consideration the sign the Moon is in at the time of your appointment, the aspects it is making, the times when it makes no aspect before changing signs and various other technicalities. As more people realise the benefits of aligning themselves to nature’s cycles, the more personalised the treatments can become. One day Spa’s might openly embrace embrace the services of astrologers who can assess the entire planetary positions of their clients. By way of example, here is an ancient astrological rule which may equate today to the practice of colonic irrigation. It states:
Put the Ascendant in Aries Libra, Scorpio or Aquarius. Let the Moon also be in one of the signs applying to Venus and let the Lord of the ascendant be unaspected by the Lord of the sixth
If you wish to ensure you are getting value for money from your beauty treatments - and the best results - you need to know the Moon phases and for that you will need a Lunar planner. For your own Lunar planner please visit AstroCal.
