Why Diets Don’t Work
By Ali Carsen

If you’re like 90% of the world’s population, you’ve tried more than a few diets in your lifetime. These diets may have worked for a brief amount of time, but the weight always came back, and you were left looking for another diet to follow. What we used to think about dieting in the past has proven to be ineffective in long-term weight loss. Following, you’ll find the truth about diet plans.

For maximum weight loss and long-term success, low calorie diets do not work. While it’s true that you may lose a few pounds when you restrict your daily calorie intake, your metabolism will soon slow down to compensate for the decreased amount of food. Many people on low calorie diets will notice that their weight starts to plateau a few weeks into the plan, and they begin to cut even more calories. After a while on a reduced calorie eating plan, you may begin to notice that you start to gain your weight back, as your body is trying to protect itself from the famine it thinks it’s in.

Low carbohydrate diets have been the current fad for a long time, but they are not effective for long-term weight loss either. For starters, restricting your carbs makes for a boring eating plan that is hard to sustain for long periods of time. Also, when you start to add carbs back into your diet, you’ll notice that the weight will creep back on.

Low fat diets are not healthy, despite the low-fat food craze in your local grocery store. Our bodies need fat to survive, and severely restricting our fat intake is not the best way to lose the excess pounds. Keeping healthy fats in your diet adds flavor to your foods and essential nutrients to your body.

You may be wondering exactly what diet will work the best for maximum weight loss and easy weight loss maintenance. The answer lies in choosing the right foods for your daily menu and eating them at the right times, while cycling your calories to keep your metabolism going strong. As more people become informed about the right way to lose weight, fad diets will become a thing of the past.
