Don’t Dress Like A Big Fat Loser
By Rosie Peters

Why do so many fat people dress like they have given up on how they look? It’s sad and distressing and totally unnecessary. If you are fat, you should not be screaming it out to the wide world with ill-fitting, badly shaped clothing. I don’t care if it’s comfortable, no one should ever wear trackie daks (tracksuit pants) outside the house, even to feed the dogs or put out the garbage.

Have some pride in your appearance. Put some effort into how you look and you will improve not only your outward appearance, but your self esteem.

When you start to look at yourself and look after yourself, you may just get the added impetus to do something about your lack of decent diet and fitness program, but even if you never have any intention of undertaking a weight control diet, dressing for your size and shape will help you feel good about yourself.

This will never happen while you keep dressing in shapeless tent dresses or squeezing yourself into lumpy skin tight leggings or worst of all, some brightly patterned sack with a kiddies motif on the front.

Overweight does not have to mean frumpy. Fat folk should not be sexless nor look like the biggest toddler in the sandpit. You can be well overweight and still look classy and sensual, but not if you don’t give your wardrobe a thorough going over.

You need to buy clothes that flatter you and that you enjoy wearing. If you buy and wear big fat loser style clothes, you are going to be angry and cranky and frown and stomp a lot and you’ll be reaching for those comforting king sized Mars Bars before you realise it.

Yes, well styled clothes may cost more, but the investment is worth it. You are way better off with a small collection of decent gear that you can wear happily than drawers full of items that you don’t really in your heart of hearts want to put on your poor long suffering body.

Take a few hints from one who knows cause I have been there. I have done big fat loser fashion and it just helped me to get fatter and more unhappy with myself taking me deeper into the vicious spiral of weight gain.

Even people who are not and have never been overweight need to choose their clothing for their body shape. Tall slim people do not look good in the same gear as short slim people, for example. Work out what you can wear with flair and go for it.

Start by being brutally honest with yourself. Really look at the figure in the mirror and work out the colours and shapes and styles that suit you. Wear colours that suit your complexion. Work them out and stick to them.

Go for a timeless style that suits your body shape. Even if you are overweight, you have a particular shape that some styles compliment. If the style does not suit you, stop dreaming. If it is fashion it will be over soon. Even those tasteless low waisted bum crack augmenting jeans of the recent past have started to fade from fashion magazine memory and not before time!

All fashion will pass, but style is timeless. Find the style that suits you and you will be a happier and better looking person, whether you choose to lose weight or not.
