Fit To Be Tied - Dress Up Fall Fashions With Silk
By Maria Simone
A woman can never have too many black shoes or silk scarves in her closet! Growing up I remember my father used to travel to Italy on occason to visit family and he would always bring me back a beautiful Italian silk scarf. Needless to say, I was hooked at an early age.
Silk scarves make the perfect “transition” accessory during the fall season. I wear a silk scarf early in the day around my neck when it’s cool outside and then can easily remove it as the afternoon heats up a bit. Indoor and outdoor temperatures fluctuate so much during this season, don’t be caught without your silk protection!
Wearing a burst of color around your neck or shoulders will naturally draw more attention to that area— and less attention to other areas you would just as soon forget about. So aim high with color for a more flattering look.
A silk scarf is a timeless accessory and can breathe new life into any outfit. Need a new look for last season’s suit? Try wearing a colorful silk scarf as a halter top under your jacket or tie it in a Windsor knot. Other uses which can immediately transform a dull look include wearing the scarf as a belt or sash, wrapped around your wrist, tied into a petite satchel to be used as an evening purse and of course tied loosely around the handle of any purse or tote.
No matter what the color, size or shape, silk scarves can instantly convey a sense of sophistication and romance…and every woman seems to have a special story to tell about the scarf she is wearing. Did you know that a silk scarf is a common protocol gift amongst politicians and royalty and is often used to commemorate a special event? Therefore, bestowing a gift of silk on someone you would like to impress could be one of the most perfect celebratory gifts to give!
