You’ve heard all the horror stories about the symptoms of menopause right? Some of them can make even the bravest women cringe; no wonder the topic is often avoided like the plague by those yet to reach this natural stage in a women’s life.

So what’s actually worse? The idea of getting the symptoms of menopause or actually going through it? Undoubtedly those experiencing the many symptoms will vote for the latter. The truth is, menopause in many cases doesn’t turn out to be as bad as it’s made out to be.

So what is the point of this article? The point is, why avoid the topic and only deal with it when it actually comes “tapping on your door?” Wouldn’t a more sensible approach be to know as much about menopause as you possibly can so when it’s your turn you’ll be better equipped mentally to handle it?

There are lots of questions being thrown out in this piece but the bottom line is…unless you are from an alien race or unique, you will experience the symptoms of menopause.

We are not suggesting doing a bachelor’s degree on menopause symptoms but only to know what they are when they arrive. Let’s face it, you are going to be faced with handling the physical stresses they may bring but it will be a heck of a lot easier to handle them with a weel prepared mind.

Physical symptoms such as irregular bleeding, night sweats and hot flashes are part and parcel of this stage but how does one cope when mood swings come into play or bouts of depression set in?

Okay, not every woman experiences the same degree of symptoms; some “strike the jackpot” while others will escape relatively unscathed but recognizing what you are going through is all part of a prepared mind.

In most cases, mental stress is more debilitating than physical stress. Take the time to discuss the symptoms of menopause with your doctor. Speak to your mother about them or even your grandmother and ask how they handled it.

Know what the early signs are. Irregular periods can be a scary thing to deal with but before you start to think you’ve contracted something life threatening, be aware, particularly if you are in your forties, it could be the first signs of menopause.

It is simply nature’s way of telling you it’s time to put up the “closed sign” on your egg production. Understanding what it is and why it occurs will make you much more prepared to handle the symptoms it throws at you when it’s your time.
